A Statement about FinancesThe bottom of our sliding scale does not reflect the actual bottom line cost of putting on a small retreat of 20 people, so we subsidize the cost by putting on benefits during the year, which also helps us provide a few "scholarships" for those who can't pay the bottom of the scale.
If the majority of participants pay above the bottom of the scale and, also if the retreat has 25 or more paying participants, than we can begin to make the retreat more sustainable. We value making the retreat affordable and believe also in making our workings transparent.
For the first three years of our endeavor creating Fool's Journey, we have not been able to compensate our organizers and teachers. At the completion of the 2010 High Priestess year, for the first time we were able to reimburse the organizers and teachers for their expenses. We are envisioning that in the abundant year of the Empress, we will have a full camp, and will be able to compensate the organizing/teaching team for their work. Below is the cost of putting on the retreat:
