Open Letter - Four Springs Lodge Fire

Dear Fools,
On the night of May 30th, the Lodge at Four Springs burned to the ground. The fire was caused by the disposal of a fire’s ashes in a waste container in the lodge by guests on the day of their departure.
We thank those of you who jumped into the fray to find us another venue and sent healing energy to Four Springs.
Happily, A Fool’s Journey will return this year to Four Springs on September 15th – 18th. We will be working with the Empress, who gifts us with the power of regeneration. Four Springs assures us that a temporary full working kitchen is being installed and they have confidence that our retreat can go on as planned.
The retreat will be more challenging for those with disabilities, as we no longer have the rooms in the lodge. We invite you to let us know what your needs are as soon as possible so we can try to accommodate them. This means placing people with mobility issues in the most accessible cabins.
It has been year marked by disasters; tsunamis, tornadoes, massive flooding, and intense climate change. Opening our Foolish hearts to work with the Empress amidst dramatic change, loss and ashes makes perfect magical sense. The Dream Temple, Art Room, and Sacred Spa still await us, as well as all the spirits and allies of Four Springs.
The Empress has called to us to focus on sustainability, and in the service of that, we ask those of you who know for sure you are coming to register soon. The cost of the retreat will be $350 to $500+ sliding scale if you register before July 13th. After that, the low end of the scale will be $375.
We are committed to transparency and our website gives a full accounting of our finances. We have a limited number of “scholarships” we are able of offer each year. We will make scholarship award decisions at our planning session in early August, so if you need a scholarship, please let us know as soon as you can and apply before August 1st. We invite you to offer workshops and trainings, and of course, donate to the infamous Funk Trunk. Art project priestessing, ideas, and materials would also be greatly welcomed.
This is fourth year of Fool's Journey. Some of you have been with us from the first step; others have joined in along the way. We have a yahoo group we invite you to join and participate in. We'd love to have a discussion on-line as camp approaches of what magical hits and mundane concerns you have in regards to camp. One thing is very clear. The Empress will have us dining with her out in her abundance and splendor. The plan is for the dining “room” to be under the grape arbor.
